PAT Testing Service for Business

As a business and employer, you have a duty to prevent any harm coming to employees and customers. PAT testing (Portable Appliance Testing) is one of the ways you can comply with this obligation. Failure to implement a program of regular appliance testing can also have implications for your insurance policy should an electrical related injury claim be made. Insurance companies assume that when giving insurance cover to a business, the owners of that business are complying with all current regulations. An insurance company may reduce, delay or even refuse to pay on a claim for damage if an appliance that has not been tested has caused the damage.

PAT Testing for Landlords

The Portable Appliance Test (PAT) is a safety test which is used on all electrical appliances which are left in a rented domestic property, including flats, apartments, houses, holiday homes, boats and caravans. Appliances include, but are not limited to, washing machines, fridges, kettles, toasters and vacuums etc. Only portable appliances can be tested, i.e. those with a 3 pin plug. The law requires that electrical appliances are safe to use and regular PAT testing is widely regarded as the Landlord’s best way of complying with this obligation.

All testing is carried out in accordance with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and its code of practice by City & Guilds 2377-22 qualified technicians.
